Processing the grief

2025, Moretti glass, brass mesh, brass wire, brass square rod, plywood

Mum loved the colour red.

Processing the grief represents my headspace during the recent loss of my mother. Created at this time of bereavement, the work provided a therapeutic focus for me as I sought to consider the individuality of grief.  Each person experiences grief at some point in their life and will deal with that grief in their own individual way.

Within the sculpture, uniquely created and positioned glass objects are used to represent this personal experience. The duality of the glass depicting the fragility and also the resilience needed in the grief journey.

The work is sized at my exact height and placed on a hollowed-out plinth indicative of the absence in my life now.
